Contact links connect people. Pairing QR trusts your own devices.
AT A GLANCE
Contact links connect people.
01
Create
Set up the local identity and understand device loss.
02
Invite
Share a single-use contact link, valid for twelve hours.
03
Communicate
Use accepted contacts and the active trusted device.
THE STARTING POINT
1. Set up your local identity
Choose a display name; a nickname is enough. Choose and confirm a local PIN or pattern. Read the loss warning: Sornix has no email-based recovery or password-reset route for an erased identity. You can skip adding contacts and invite someone later.
A CLEAR NEXT STEP
2. Invite someone
Create a temporary single-use invitation link and share it through another channel. The recipient opens it, sees your display name and accepts once. That acceptance connects both of you; you are not asked to approve again. The link expires 12 hours after creation and can be cancelled before acceptance. Opening it or completing setup does not extend its life.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUST
Two invitations. Two very different purposes.
A contact link connects you with another person. A pairing QR authorizes another device of your own. Before accepting either, identify which action you are taking. Sharing a pairing QR is not a way to add a friend.
An authorized device can be ready without being active. Use this device makes communication switching explicit and ends the earlier active session. Each device keeps the history already retained locally.
If a contact link expires during setup, create a fresh invitation. Opening the link or completing setup does not extend its twelve-hour lifetime. Acceptance happens once, without a second approval from the sender.
Follow the controls, delivery rules and responsibilities that apply to how it works.
01
3. Communicate
Send messages and files or start a call with an accepted contact. Sornix prefers Direct and uses permitted Secure Relay when needed. Delivery indicators distinguish transmission, verified receipt and actual reading.
02
4. Keep your history on your device
Your local vault holds the communication retained on this device. Search works locally. Temporary relay delivery is not a cloud backup, and pairing another device does not transfer past history.
03
5. Pair your own device
On a trusted device, use Add your device and the short-lived pairing QR. Confirm Authorize this device. This is separate from accepting a contact invitation. Pairing trusts your own device; it does not automatically make it active.
04
6. Choose the active device
Use this device switches communication to an already authorized device and ends the earlier active session. Every plan allows one active communication device. Other authorized devices retain their own local history without receiving automatic new copies.

Example
Harry shares a link with David. David finishes local setup and accepts once. Both become contacts. If David is offline, encrypted text can wait for up to 12 hours; verified receipt removes the temporary copy. If the link itself expires before acceptance, Harry creates a fresh invitation.
Continue in Sornix to set up your identity, manage your devices and use the communication tools. Choose your contacts deliberately, protect local access and review paid usage before starting.
