Open a question for the details, then use the related guide to explore further.
01Do I need an email address or phone number?
No. Create a local Sornix identity with a display name and local PIN or pattern. Payment processing is separate from communication identity.
02How do I add someone?
Share a single-use personal invitation link. The recipient accepts once and both become contacts. It expires 12 hours after creation; opening or setup does not extend it.
03Is QR required to add a contact?
No. Contact invitations use links. QR pairing is for authorizing your own additional device under an existing identity.
04How many devices can I use?
Free authorizes 1, Plus 2 and Pro 4. Only one communicates at a time. Explicit switching does not copy old history.
05What happens when someone is offline?
Encrypted text may wait for up to 12 hours on every plan. Plus and Pro also include temporary offline files within their limits. Free files are Direct only. Temporary payloads are removed earlier after verified receipt.
06Does Sornix keep a permanent conversation backup?
Sornix does not keep a permanent central conversation archive. Local history stays on the device retaining it; temporary delivery is not a backup.
07Can I recover a lost identity?
Not if every authorized device is lost, erased or unusable. Email, phone numbers and payment receipts do not restore the identity or vault.
08Are notifications and read receipts optional?
Text read receipts and visible message notifications remain enabled. Choose sound or silent and show or hide previews. Locked notifications conceal protected message text. Files show receipt, not opening.
09Are groups free?
Creating and keeping unlimited groups is free on every plan. All group messages, file transfers, voice and video are pay as you go. Sender or initiating caller pays; receiving is free.
10Who pays for a group call?
The initiating caller pays connected receiving participants' rounded usage, excluding themselves. Group membership alone is not charged. Unanswered calls are not charged.
11Does sending a temporary file count if it expires?
A complete accepted temporary offline upload counts once per intended recipient even if it later expires. Receipt does not count again. Direct/live-relay files count at complete verified receipt.
12What does Emergency Wipe do?
It is off by default. If enabled, three consecutive completed incorrect Sornix PIN/pattern submissions erase this device's vault and keys. A correct third submission resets without wiping. Cancelled prompts, biometric failures and phone unlock attempts do not count.
13Can revoked devices keep old files?
Yes. Revocation removes future authority; it does not remotely erase history or external copies already retained.
14Does a paid plan provide stronger encryption?
No. Plans change capacity and convenience, not the baseline identity and content-protection principles. See Security for feature-specific protections.
15Is monthly renewal required?
No. Choose one month paid once or explicitly enable monthly automatic renewal. See Settings → Billing for your status and management controls.

THE GUIDE BEHIND THE QUESTION
Start with the question you have today.
Setup questions concern invitations and local identity. Delivery questions concern sending, verified receipt and actual reading. Device questions concern authority, explicit switching and locally retained history.
An expired invitation needs a new link. An unavailable Direct file path calls for retry or a permitted plan-specific delivery choice. Temporary delivery is not a permanent copy waiting indefinitely.
