CLEAR BOUNDARIES. INFORMED CHOICES.

Know what is processed.
Know what you keep.

A conversation, a usage record and a saved copy are different things. Understanding how each is handled helps you choose how to communicate and what to retain.

Conversation processing

Speech recognition, translation and spoken output can involve temporary service processing. Server-translated audio is not true end-to-end encryption.

Account & usage metadata

Account, billing and history data supports the service and credit use. Usage metadata is distinct from the words or media in a conversation.

Your optional local copies

Recordings and transcripts are separate choices saved locally. Service processing may still be involved in producing a local result.

FOR TRANSLATED CONVERSATIONS

Encrypted transport.
Processing in the service.

Translated speech involves recognising audio, translating text and producing spoken output. Processing can happen on servers even when transport is encrypted.

Encrypted transport protects data in transit; it does not mean the service cannot process the content. Server-translated audio is not true end-to-end encryption.

Understand the translation process ↗
Temporary content processing
Translation processing is temporary by default, with no default audio archive and no ordinary conversation-content logs.
Account, billing & history
These records support accounts, payments and usage. Call history records activity and credit consumed, not an automatic saved conversation.
Metadata analytics
Analytics covers usage and credit metadata. It is not an automatic window into private conversation content.

DIRECT FILES

Device to device.
Accepted by the receiver.

Direct Files is an encrypted-transport, one-to-one transfer. Both people must be online, and the receiver accepts the file.

There is no server payload relay or archive. Network conditions can prevent a direct transfer, even when both people are online.

Once you choose to receive a file, managing the received copy is separate from the transport. A direct transfer is not an automatic backup service.

More about communication tools ↗

Saving should be
a separate decision.

Local recording saves supported media on your device, with a visible recording indicator and required consent. Optional transcripts can save original text, translated text or both.

Local saving does not imply that all processing happens on the device. For a direct-call transcript, temporary audio is processed after the call and then deleted.

No automatic archive or backup

Live subtitles are not automatically saved transcripts. Call history is not a recording. Locally saved media and text are not an automatic server archive or backup.

Consider what you export or share and where the saved copy goes. Required recording consent remains important even when the result is stored on your own device.

WORKSPACE MANAGEMENT HAS LIMITS

Membership is not
content access.

Teams organises accounts, invitations, roles and shared credit. Workspace admins are not automatically allowed access to private conversation content.

Billing and metadata analytics help explain usage; they are different from reading or listening to the conversation.

Avoid assuming more than is stated

Do not treat Direct mode as a true end-to-end encryption guarantee. The availability of encrypted transport is not an independent audit or certification claim.

Choose the communication tools appropriate to the sensitivity of the conversation, and read the applicable privacy and terms information.

PRACTICAL DECISIONS BEFORE YOU SHARE

Start with the information
the conversation contains.

Consider whether a conversation includes personal details, a document or something sensitive before choosing the mode and any saving options. Privacy decisions are easier to make before a call than after a copy has been exported.

Choose processing knowingly

Translated speech needs service processing. Direct mode means the audio is not translated; it does not establish a true end-to-end encryption guarantee. Choose a suitable communication method for the sensitivity of the content.

Separate the saved copy

Recording and transcription are optional. Required consent and the visible recording indicator apply to recording, even when the media is saved locally. Before sharing an exported transcript, consider who will receive its contents.

Review usage without inferring content

An entry in history or analytics describes activity and credit. It is not proof that audio or text was retained. Likewise, a workspace role is not an automatic right to read another person’s private conversation.

Encrypted transport, temporary processing and local saving answer different questions. Read the relevant product behavior for the tool you choose rather than treating one description as a blanket guarantee for every feature.
